Job Scope

The Hostess is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, and coordinating seating arrangements in the restaurant. With a focus on hospitality, organization, and guest satisfaction, the Hostess plays a key role in creating a positive first impression for guests and ensuring a smooth and efficient dining experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Welcome guests warmly as they arrive at the restaurant, engaging with them in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage the guest waiting list, take reservations, and estimate wait times accurately, providing guests with updates and information as needed.
- Escort guests to their tables, seating them promptly and efficiently while ensuring a smooth flow of traffic in the restaurant.
- Answer phone calls and inquiries from guests regarding reservations, availability, and dining options.
- Input reservation details into the restaurant's reservation system accurately, confirming reservations and noting any special requests or preferences.
- Monitor the dining room layout, seating capacity, and table availability to optimize table turnover and maximize guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate with servers, bussers, and management to ensure that guests are seated promptly and that tables are cleared and reset efficiently.
- Anticipate guests' needs and preferences, offering assistance, recommendations, and personalized service to enhance their dining experience.

 

Position Requirements

Education

- Technical Diploma in hospitality management or an equivalent.
- Previous experience as a hostess or in a similar guest service role, preferably in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting.
 

Qualifications/Skills

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in reservation management software, computer skills, and basic math skills.​​​
